SHANNAN
KEENAN
– Writer, Director and Producer
Kansas-born writer and filmmaker Shannan Keenan holds a BA
in Communications with a minor in Theatre from Colorado State University.
Hopelessly realizing that she would never be quarterback for the Denver
Broncos, Shannan moved west to pursue her dream of filmmaking. Through her
Los Angeles based production company, Just Hank Productions, Shannan wrote,
directed, and produced the critically acclaimed independent feature
Loaves, the story of two bumbling cousins attempting an ill-fated murder
plot. Film Threat called Loaves “A promising first feature,
complete with
believable, engaging (albeit dimwitted) characters.”
Loaves
continues to screen at independent film venues across the country, including
winning the Best Feature award at the Kansas International Film Festival in
Kansas City.
Shannan’s screenplay Randy, about a soul-searching
Kansas dishwasher hitching to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s funeral, has been
spotlighted in several prominent screenwriting competitions, including
placing in the top 20 of a competition sponsored by Filmmakers Magazine.
Shannan’s latest feature screenwriting effort, Ramper,
comically delves into the world of airline rampers as seen through
the eyes of a middle-aged preacher’s wife. Ramper was a finalist in
several screenwriting competitions, including the Moondance International
Film Festival.
Shannan
wrote, directed and produced Trail End, a short film that follows the
poignant story of an ailing man and his old horse as they attempt their last
ride across Kansas. Trail End was filmed entirely on location in
Kansas with Emmy nominated actor Barry Corbin in the lead role. Shannan was
awarded the Panavision New Filmmaker's Grant for Trail End and the
script won the Spirit of Moondance award from the Moondance International
Film Festival. Trail End will debut on the 2007 festival
circuit.
When Shannan is not working on her scripts and projects, she can usually be
found at the stable cleaning up manure for her three horses or playing hide
the pink piggy with her dog, Kobe.
