MARK PUTNAM
– Director of Photography
Throughout the past fourteen years, Mark has served as both director of
photography and camera operator on over twenty five narrative short films,
and sixteen independent feature films.
The films that Mark has photographed have played in film festivals all over
the world. Twice he had his work represented at the Sundance Film Festival,
with Valerie Flake in 1999, and I Love You, Don’t Touch Me!,
an audience favorite in 1997, which had a theatrical release in 1998.
Mark’s most recently completed feature entitled I Love Your Work is
currently available on DVD. The star studded cast includes Giovanni Ribisi,
Franka Potente, Christina Ricci, and Jason Lee, featuring cameos by Vince
Vaughn and Elvis Costello.
Mark shot The Fluffer, which broke the house box office record at The
Quad Cinemas in New York City, and played at many art houses across the
country. The film has been featured on The Hear Network as well.
Scotch and Milk,
shot in black and white for director / actor Adam Goldberg, earned a Grand
Jury 1st prize at the 1998 Idyllwild Film Festival. Most
recently the film headlined a series on the Sundance Channel entitled The
10 Best Films You’ve Never Seen. Mark’s work on the film was featured
in the July 1998 issue of American Cinematographer Magazine.
Mark’s documentary work has allowed him to travel the globe, including a
story about a cross country skier in Mongolia for the 1998 Winter Olympics,
which was nominated for an Emmy award.
Mark’s other television credits include work for HBO, ESPN’s World Series of
Poker, and he has also been the Lighting Director on Monday Night Football
for the last three seasons.
A graduate of both NYU and The American Film Institute, Mark considers
himself to be a storyteller. Along with his sense of humor, Mark is a
dedicated, hard worker who honors commitment and loyalty. Above all else,
he looks forward to working with others who enjoy the film making process as
much as he does.
